recent eats: kimchee overload and outerlands

went to HRD today and it was divine.
in a diner sort of way.

kimchee goodness in everything we ate and wonderful customer service and it was hoppin'. My kinda place. They were just featured on Food Network's "Diners, Drive-ins and Dives" so they have jumped in business.
Cash only and be prepared to wait in line.
huge portions under $7.

I'm trying to remember to write down what I order so here goes.
I am still without a camera so my iphone will have to do!

Ok first.

kimchee fried rice with fried egg: i got mine with
spicy pork

stole a bite of my dad's burrito.
He got the Korean kimchee burrito.
Kiwi salsa, korean veggies, sour cream with spicy pork.
HUGE.

My brother got the tofu version.

we shared the Kimchee tacos.
kiwi salsa, korean veggies.
I loved the tacos because the kimchee wasn't warmed up and it was crunchy.
to die for.

nobody come near my breath.

Last weekend we tried out Outerlands. The N train will take you all the way to Ocean beach and to Outerlands. It's a little out there but worth it. This place is crazy busy with groups signing up for a table an hour before. They serve an amazing brunch on Sundays. Can't wait to try that.
We were first to be seated and it was adorable in there. I didn't explore much but in the back there was a ladder that led into a tiny room!
While we waited in line we got au-laits at Trouble

This was the place to be. Their speciality is Toast. They serve huge slabs of it with whatever topping you want. They also serve whole coconuts for you to enjoy there.
i am not a coconut lover but I wish i was because it looked fun to eat!

Ok! on to Outerlands.
fun atmosphere and fresh food.
I can't remember what I got and they changed their menu already. I'll try my best.

cauliflower goodness in a soup with toast.

open faced hot sandwich with basil and cheese.

blurry camillis and ready to eat.

I went to Robert Goodman again.
with a fabulous group of girls.
I will miss moments like this.

after I connected with my family/friends with some chinese.
then some phase 10. ( i love all card games.)
and of course brownies by Camille.

a dinner at the Roberts.
a feast and friendships.

I think i gained many pounds that were well worth it my last few days.
I love enjoying food with friends and the conversations that come with it.

quick post!

Hi friends!
I've been without "real" internet since we have moved to SF. I've been randomly using my iphone so no blogging. I'm at school right now and have a little break because I got to school waaay too early. Public transportation wins today!

Look what i got for my anniversary!
Yay!
I've been seeing this throughout all the blogs that I frequent.
I'm in love.

who doesn't love instant gratification?
I got the Instax mini and you can get yours
if you like.

We started a little wall of instax pictures of people who frequent our apartment (so far it's the hubby and my little brother) and people who plan to visit (hint hint).

so far so good in the city.
internet should be up by wednesday folks.
lots of love.

recently recently part 1

I have been working every day leading up to my departure to SF.  My husband is amazing and letting me be a full-time student so I felt that I should work as much as possible before school starts. It starts Monday! eep. I'm moving to the city this weekend and will most likely go to Japantown to go school shopping. I will probably end up working because I like to keep busy and meet new people. but we shall see...

Luckily I worked a few shorts shifts (I work at a coffee shop so early is early) so I was able to get off work and spend time with friends and take a nap or two...

we went exploring at an open house up the road from my in-laws. amazing. Very 70's and they didn't change one thing while they lived there. The owner was an architect and it's a 3 level house.

dinner with the in-laws.
when we went to the fair
we bought a blackberry bbq sauce. yu-u-mmy. that was a "i'll remember" dinner.

yes. I had Sangria again. and when you scroll down you will see it again...
It's just so good. and it's such a fun place to chat and catch up.
I thought that it had a name...but when I looked it up it is just a tasting room for Robert Goodman wines. For now.
it's going to be a restaurant eventually as well.
mosey over here and scroll down to get the address and hours.

This first time (this week) was with my friend Katie and Joe.
They are the cutest love birds and I love laughing with them.

then a few hours with a favorite friend who has one of the sweetest babies. He has my heart and I love to see him smile! It makes me a sad to think I won't see him and his mama whenever I want.

I need to start packing and cleaning up this disaster of a room. We have been staying at our in-laws while we have been in transition.
Part two to come!

yes I dressed up like a superhero who is a cat.

guilty

this is a guilty pleasure. i have a thing for breakfast burritos. and this one is from Mcdonalds...after I took my first bite i realized how funny it was that I was reading -My life in France- and eating fast food.

if you have not read My life in France. Go out and get it! Please? it's amazing. and I've actually read it at least 3 or 4 times and bits and pieces when I need a little inspiration.

I love that Julia was older (32), awkward and TALL, and def. not the norm in France and she embraced it and they embraced her. If she can make it in Paris and find/pursue her dream than this little asian shortie can. That's me!
I'm going back to school at 33 (i feel old), I'm finishing my theatre major (what to do with that?), and I'm moving back to SF with my husband (who will not be moving until he gets his transfer thru work).
It will be ok.
right?
right.
Late bloomers unite.

a few pictures of my last few weeks in humboldt. Busy Busy Busy in a wonderful kind of way.
dinner at the startares. i love okra! and their puppy banjo.
we eat alot of sushi
a party for friends. and my husband twirling his hair (he's a twirler when he's tired)
cupcakes from a regular where i work. chef's special from tomo.
and pic in the bathroom of sidelines.
yes.
I was at sidelines.
no judge!

too many pictures to post! I'm working on my next post of our little apartment ( i mean little) in San Francisco.
